Descriptionembr labs was founded by four MIT students who are passionate about finding ways for people to take control of their own comfort. After winning the first prize of the MADMEC competition at MIT, we decided to go forward and make the Wristify bracelet a reality.
At embr labs, we are driven by a shared belief in the importance of connecting mind, body and environment. Using our patent-pending technology, we're working hard to make a piece of jewelry that actually does something. In fact, we think it will change how the world thinks about wearables and comfort.
embr labs benefits from the ongoing mentorship and support of the Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, the MIT Venture Mentoring Service and is partnering with world-class designers and leading academic research groups.
We are currently hiring design interns specifically interested in the wearable fashion industry. Our ideal candidate will have a strong interest in technology and understand the esthetics of beautiful jewelry. The Internship will be offered for a min of 3 months up to 1 year with the option of hiring for the position. Embr Labs is a startup located in Cambridge MA. We would like to have a designer that is located within 50 miles of Boston but not mandatory. To get the most benefit from our internship, the designer would be directly working face-to-face with engineers, our marketing dept, and investors. Working remotely is TBD depending on the candidate. The internship will start March 15th 2015. The position will be open to a variety of designers with a strong interest in product development. This internship is unpaid. Benefits will be professional development, mentoring, working with a great team of engineers and access to the marketplace.
ResponsibilitiesThe designer will be responsible for understanding the target market, identifying the needs of the market and designing a product that can be manufactured in small production run to test the product.
A majority of the time will be used to fully understand the 40-65 year old demographics buying patterns and translating it into a design that will reach our target market.
