DescriptionEstablished in 2005, Urban Colony is a boutique designer showroom with mid-century flair owned by Designer, Robert Wylie. Mr. Wylie has twenty years of experience in the furniture design and home decor business. His eye for design is showcased in our impressive 3400 sq. ft. showroom located at the LA MART in Downtown Los Angeles. Besides carrying a variety of beautiful and affordable home décor, furniture, lighting, and rug lines, we offer our own custom furniture collection, Black Label Home. Most of the pieces you will see in our showroom are custom designed pieces made locally in Los Angeles. This allows us to reduce lead time, ensure quality, and support local craftsmen. All our frames are guaranteed for life and Made in the USA. From upholstery, to case goods, to lighting, we can make pretty much anything you can imagine!
Looking for an intelligent and savvy intern to train in showroom sales/management. The internship will be at our upscale custom furniture showroom located inside the LA MART in Downtown LA. Our owner, Robert Wylie, is also a seasoned interior designer and the intern selected will occasionally help with 3D design and renderings for these jobs. Hours will vary week to week based on intern's schedule and ability to complete assignments quickly and efficiently. The ideal person will be available 2-3 times a week during our showroom hours from 9 am - 4 pm and occasionally on weekends during special events. Compensation is possible after a three month probationary period, and will be discussed at that time.
Responsibilities*Providing customer service over the phone and in person. You will be dealing with designers, their clients, and the public
*Selling on the showroom floor to designers and clients. This includes writing up orders, creating invoices, submitting POs, requesting quotes, and collecting payment.
*Updating social media sites
*Maintain backend of website and communicate with web designer
*Creating illustrated design concepts for rooms and indoor spaces. For example, taking a photograph and applying interior designer's concepts to show what the room might look like with specified furniture, paint, wallpaper, flooring, etc.
*Creating and updating vendor catalogs
*Pricing fabrics & products
*Maintaining upkeep of showroom, which may include cleaning
*Other duties as assigned
RequirementsDegree in Interior Design/Decorating or Business
Sales experience (furniture preferred)
Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop esp.)
Microsoft Office, Excel
Basic Office Skills (answering phones, filing papers, very organized, etc.)
Reliable transportation (public transportation is fine)
Local to Los Angeles, CA
