DescriptionUrban Peak Denver (UPD) was established as a drop-in center in 1988 amidst growing concern in Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood about the increasing numbers of homeless youth living on the streets. In 1998, UPD built Denver’s first licensed homeless shelter for youth. In 2003, UPD merged with The Spot Youth Center, an award-winning night-time youth drop-in center established in 1993. To date, UPD has expanded to provide an array of services throughout the Denver metro area.
Our mission is to help homeless youth and youth at risk of becoming homeless overcome real life challenges by providing essential services and a supportive community, empowering them to become self-sufficient adults. UPD helps young people across Denver become self-sufficient by providing a continuum of services for youth ages 14-24 including: street outreach, a daytime drop-in center, shelter, case management, GED preparation and testing, education counseling, employment counseling and placement, substance abuse/mental health counseling, transitional housing, and life skills development.
Volunteer will be a Development Intern, supporting development staff with campaigns, donor connections, tours of Urban Peak, creating email blasts that are specific to individual donors and writing correspondence to specific donors. The volunteer will also support the development team in planning fundraising events and donor events.
