The Phillips Collection's Internship program is open to full-time undergraduate students, full -time graduate students, and recent graduates. The purposes of the internship program is to offer students and recent graduates meaningful work, educational experiences, and real -life practice in their fields of acedemic study and /or interest.

The Development intern will work with members of The Phillips Collection's Development staff. Development is responsible for the fundraising activities of the musuem, including Membership, Major Gifts, Planned Giving, Corporate Giving, Foundation Giving, Government Funding, Special Events, Music Programs, and Building Rentals.

Duration: Eight continuous weeks and at least 16 to 20 hours per week is preferred. Internship length and schedule may vary depending on the needs of the department.

Academic Credit: Depending on the nature of the internship and approval of the student's college or university, academic credit may be granted for internships. Student applicants should consult their acedemic advisor for additional information.

(include but are not limited to):

•Under the supervision of the Execution Assistant to the Director of Development, the intern will provide research and administrative support, while learning a wide variety of skills. Tasks will include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Maintaining hardcopy and electronic department files to support the effective maintenance of donors and fundraising activities.
•Assisting with entering and maintaining information in the deparment's fundraising database, The Raiser's Edge.
•Conducting and coordinating membership programs and donor research using multiple resources.
•Providing administrative support for the development staff including creating and editing company documents and letters, conducting phone calls, and stuffing and addressing mailings and invitations.
•Producing weekly reports on current development and art news.
•Taking and producting notes development meetings.
•Updating and distributing the development department master calendar.
•Performing other duties as assisgned.


•Must be comfortable and discreet handling confidential information.
•Strong written, organizational, and research skills.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
•Experience with standard office procedures and practices.
•Ability to work independently, thoroughly and with attention to detail.
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
