This position will assist with daily development department operations in a fun and fast-paced fundraising office. The Development Intern will gain firsthand knowledge and experience in the major aspects of the donor cycle (prospecting, cultivation, soliciting, and stewardship), the Raiser’s Edge constituent database, as well as experience the day-to-day operations of fundraising department with a non-profit organization.
This position will help deepen constituents’ engagement with the Museum through a variety of activities – from solicitation to stewardship/thanking. Interaction with other departments will be key in fulfilling assigned projects and tasks.
ResponsibilitiesMajor Job Accountabilities
This is an estimate of the duties to be included in the internship. The exact duties and projects will be determined by mutual agreement of the intern and development staff. Depending on experience and background, the intern may have the opportunity for more creative and independent work. All duties will be carried out with direction and supervision of the Director of Annual Giving and Prospect Research Associate.
% of Time
75% Work with Director of Annual Giving to execute donor communications, including stewardship pieces, solicitations (print and email), acknowledgements, constituent interviews, newsletter and other written materials.
15% Assist with development of and maintenance of annual giving social media/email/website.
5% Perform data entry in Raisers Edge to maintain donor records
5% Other duties as assigned.
RequirementsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
1. Formal education in related field (marketing, communications, journalism or related experience).
2. Excellent communication skills, especially creative and engaging writing.
3. Excellent computer skills.
4. Ability to conduct online research.
5. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
6. Ability to work well with others as well as on an independent basis.
