A Better LA, founded by NFL coach Pete Carroll, is a nonprofit organization that supports community-based solutions to restore peace, save lives, and give Angelenos living in inner city LA the resources they need in order to thrive. A Better LA works with trusted partners to bridge racial divides, create safer environments for children and families, rebuild communities, and empower individuals to create better futures for themselves. By partnering with community-based organizations, A Better LA enables sustainable transformation to take root from within, offering all Angelenos reason to hope for a better tomorrow.

We are currently seeking an intern who can immediately contribute to fundraising efforts and help us meet our fundraising targets for the summer and fall of 2013.

Responsibilities

The Development and Fundraising intern will work directly under the Chief Operations Officer, duties will include:
• Plan and lead summer development campaigns
• Participate in grant administration
• Handle communications and messaging between ABLA and partners, donors, etc
• Research and analyze development and marketing best practices
• Provide recommendations and contribute to development of programs and operations
• Work on marketing, public relations and social media

Requirements

Ideal candidates will possess the following characteristics:
• Interest in development or fundraising
• Background in business, public policy or nonprofit development – high level or masters student preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to work independently and without a lot of direction
• Able to meet deadlines
