Description


The Office for Global Engagement (formerly International Services) provides services to international students, faculty, and scholars and assists Slippery Rock University students and faculty with international study and travel. This office strives to improve current programs, advance services, and expand student involvement. The program assessment intern will help target these goals by finding out what students want from the Office for Global Engagement and integrate these ideas into our services.

This position will provide the intern with a variety of advantageous experiences. The internship offers opportunities to learn the scope of functions of international office management, program development, international recruitment/admissions, and study abroad advising. This intern will enhance their communication and program development skills as well as have the opportunity to work with international students. The projects completed will be worthy of inclusion in the intern’s professional portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the recruitment of international students to SRU and assess ways to improve services to international students
o Create focus groups to gather information such as how international students learned about SRU, ideas they have to recruit more students to study at Slippery Rock, and improve their experience
• Generate email surveys for students to complete upon completion of study abroad and to collect information about interests students have for study abroad
• Create student review projects for students to rank their experiences and

Requirements

Desired Qualifications:

• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, powerpoint, and publisher programs
o Experience designing posters, brochures, information sheets, newsletters, etc
• International travel and/or experience with international students previously
• Organization skills and leadership abilities
• Initiative and creativity in work assignments
• Communication skills, ability to prioritize tasks, self-directed, efficient, and responsible
