ICE HOCKEY IN HARLEM is a non-profit community based organization for youth that uses the sport of hockey to promote academic achievement, responsibility, teamwork and good character. The objective of the organization is to provide inspiration, encouragement and guidance to children leading to better life experiences, education and career opportunities. Since 1987, ICE HOCKEY IN HARLEM has enriched the lives of more then 1000 boys and girls from the Harlem community.
We are looking for people who have an interest in writing, social media, research and developing narratives. The internship is often a good fit for journalism graduate and some undergraduate students, particularly those with an interest in ice hockey. Experience is not a requirement, but applicants should have some school journalism experience. The internship is open to those who are current students, or those who graduated.
This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong research and analytical skills. Must be organized, detail and team-oriented, able to multitask and meeting deadlines. Strong computer skills and familiarity with Word, Excel, Power Point also preferred. Interns have the opportunity to develop content for the organization website, newsletter and almost daily across social media. Interns will pitch ideas, provide research assistance, transcribe tape, gather materials for publishing, and perform various tasks around the office.
