DESCRIPTION
Alive Hospice, Middle TN’s oldest and most innovated hospice provider is seeking an energetic and outgoing Community Outreach intern. Alive Hospice seeks a highly motivated, self-starting student who is passionate about public service. Intern will provide support to Alive Hospice staff and gain valuable skills and insights while assisting with community relations, and educational program planning for Alive Hospice. Alive Hospice internships are unpaid, but we offer a flexible internship of one semester or up to one year if this fits your current schedule and educational needs.

With this internship, students will receive the following benefits:
• Opportunity to work closely with staff and many levels (Director, Manager, Liaison) and with Community Leaders
• Networking with worship communities, community centers, senior centers, non-profits, and other area businesses
• Gain working knowledge of community relations and health education
• Learn best techniques and practices in fundraising
• College credit available

This internship will enable a skilled student to assist the Alive Hospice by working on important end-of-life care education programs. This internship will provide the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas.

Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate hospice care education programs with local worship, businesses and community organizations
• Assist with mailings and package assembly for educational events
• Coordinating events in the community to educate audiences on advance care planning on behalf of The Gift Initiative of Alive Hospice
• Attend designated local Health Fairs and lunch and learn programs
• Visit local worship groups and community organizations to deliver educational materials
• Assist in planning for community education events including the Alive Hospice Faith Leaders Conference, and monthly Lunch and Learn Open House Series
• Internet Research
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS
• Major in public relations, marketing, communications, health education or administration, nutrition, or related field
• Bi-lingual abilities are a plus, but not required
• Minimum two years of college education
• Knowledge of office tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in database management and design of spreadsheets
• Interpersonal communications skills
• Excellent research skills
• Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of assignments simultaneously
• Attention to detail and accountability is required
• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university

** Time commitment of 15-20 hours per week (minimum) is requested. Will work with candidate to develop a schedule which meets your program requirements.
