DescriptionFosterAdopt Connect, formerly Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Association, is a comprehensive support and advocacy center for abused and neglected children and the families caring for them. We accomplish this goal through foster, relative and kinship home licensing, advocacy for families navigating the child welfare system, training on the unique issues impacting children in care, thorough family-finding programs and physical support through our food pantry and clothing closet. This unique organization was created by foster and adoptive families for foster and adoptive families and operates on the core value that it is in the context of family that children learn, grow, thrive and heal.
FosterAdopt Connect is seeking an intern to work with the Development Department on special events and other fundraising activities. The Development Intern will work closely with Development staff to plan and execute our annual fundraisers and family celebrations. An intern would gain experience in donor relations, event planning and fundraising activities.
ResponsibilitiesDuties include but are not limited to:
o Assist in the planning and implementing of special events
• Concept to execution
• Identify and contact donors
• Generate asks
o Assist in grant writing and reporting
• Research public, governmental and private grant sources
o Assist in media and print communications
• Generate acknowledgment letters
• Create flyers and marketing material
• Find and post content to social media
RequirementsThe ideal development intern should have an interest in event planning, grant writing, marketing and/or communications.
SkillsRequired - Works well individually, Active Team Player, Articulate Communicator
