DescriptionArts-Kids, Inc. is a non-profit in Summit County that offers a unique after-school youth development program that utilizes a variety of artistic mediums to encourage self-awareness and socialization through creative expression for children with diverse backgrounds, ages, special challenges and pressures. With the creative process and small dynamic groups, we promote self-motivation, individuality and self-esteem without a pressure for perfection or finishing a product. The expressive arts help children connect, and acts as a catalyst to open the creative spirit inherent in every child….so that child can thrive into adulthood, resilient and joyful. The mission of Arts-Kids is to provide our youth facing adversity with life skills through an after-school expressive arts program.
Arts-Kids is looking for highly motivated, Intelligent and creative undergraduate, graduate student or recent graduate interested gaining insight and experience in development and fundraising in the nonprofit world. Interns will have the opportunity to support a growing fundraising program and gain experience in organizational development, grant-writing and build their resume in a creative non-profit organization that offers flexibility and a positive and welcoming environment.
Internships are offered year-round. Two intern positions available for Spring, Summer and Fall.
Compensation: Unpaid, Class credit may be available (student must check with their university)
Schedule: Work hours can be flexible to accommodate a student schedule.
Spring (January - April) 5-15 hours/week
Summer (May- August) 16-30 hours/week
Fall (September-December) 5-15 hours/week
ResponsibilitiesContribute to development efforts
Assist in planning and implementing traditional and creative community based fundraising campaigns
Conduct project and grant research
Assist in researching viable grant opportunities
Assist and contribute to development efforts
Assist with grant-writing
Assist with fundraising
Assisting with our donor stewardship program
Identify and research prospects
Assist in developing and managing cultivation and solicitation strategies
Assist in creating proposals
Work with social media department to implement social media fundraising plan
Update and database, donor files
Assist with writing correspondence with donors
Assist with developing strategies to strengthen develop/fundraising program
Help manage donor lists
Feel comfortable and confident to share and present ideas
Find creative ways to solve problems
RequirementsStrong interest in development and fundraising
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal); you will be engaging with our past, current and future donors
Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail
Strong internet research skills
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and switch gears quickly
Must be dependable, independent thinker, proactive, energetic
Must be confident to jump in and be part of the team
Strong knowledge of MS office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Knowledge or willing to learn how to use Salesforce
Interested in youth development and the mission of Arts-Kids, Inc.
Preferred - Bilingual-English/Spanish; experience in development planning, grant writing, event coordination; fundraising
• Prefer Graduate student or undergraduate junior or senior (although not required) in good standing
• Must be able to commit to required hours, however there is great flexibility for students
• May require evenings and weekend
