DescriptionSouth Asians for Empowerment (SAFE) is a non-political, not for profit, publicly supported, charitable development organization whose mission is to assist low-income immigrant families of Queens- particularly South Asians- become contributory residents of New York City. SAFE offers programs aimed at educating and empowering community members facing barriers to full social and economic participation and to build understanding and cooperation between the diverse communities.
We have a fantastic opportunity for someone who is studying fundraising to apply your learning with us.
We are moving towards a phase of expanding our scope of work and desire to serve the needs of more constituents. We are looking for you to help us shape a new fundraising strategy. This is a real opportunity for someone who has some academic knowledge of fundraising (or fundraising wisdom acquired in other ways) and wants to gain more confidence and experience by applying it to a real world situation.
ResponsibilitiesWork with the Executive Director on creating the fundraising strategy.
Requirements• an understanding of a variety of fundraising strategies, including annual membership campaigns, major donors, grant writing
• outstanding written and verbal expression
• collaborative attitude and great team-working skills
• great follow-through
• ability to meet deadlines
• familiarity with current trends in fundraising
• familiarity with social media and a variety of outreach methods
• fluency in any South Asian language in addition to English is a great asset.
