Hands Across the World is a non-profit local organization here in St. Cloud, MN which works with new immigrants and refugees. We help adults and families adjust to American life and integrate them into the St. Cloud community. We teach English, basic math, sewing, job skills, and much more, as well as providing them with resources to succeed.
After School Tutoring Program: “Learning Together”
Volunteers to tutor immigrant and refugee students (children) in our non-profit tutoring program:
Who: For students of all grades, however the program specifically targets K-3rd graders.
What: Individual and group tutoring in English skills, math & science. Curriculum and basic training are provided. No experience necessary!
Where: Hands Across the World 823 1st St. S, St. Cloud, 2nd floor, Mary Center
When: Program is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-6:30pm. Beginning Sept 10th. Tutors are needed from 3:00pm-7:00pm Tuesday and/or Thursdays.
Why: Our mission at HAW is "To provide a first learning experience to newly arrived immigrants and refugees who do not have the language or living skills to thrive in our community. In a classroom environment, we help both children and parents acquire the tools needed to become integrated citizens of Central Minnesota."
This tutoring program is aimed at helping the children of our adult students in developing character, social skills, and academic success.

ResponsibilitiesCommit to working atleast one day a week with the program. Be willing to make time for the training.
RequirementsMust have previous experience with children.
Must pass background check.
Must have the desire to work with children of multiple cultures, nationalities, and ethnicities.
