Washington Revels offers internship opportunities for high school and college students throughout the year to assist with specific areas. Opportunities and schedule will be determined by the student in conjunction with the volunteer coordinator or supervisor. All responsibilities will be based on interest and experience. Schedules should generally average a minimum of 8 hours a week, but can be flexible depending on the needs of the student. Positions are unpaid, but can potentially fulfill community service or credit requirements.

Specific Internship Descriptions


Education Intern

Responsibilities may include:

-Assist in registration for after-school workshops and summer programs
-Assist with research for materials to be used in the classroom
-Assume Assistant Teaching responsibilities (based on interest and experience)
-Assist with any special events centered around education
-Assist in preparing for teacher training workshops
-Generate class contact sheet
-Coordinate use of all education supplies
-Assist in the day-to-day needs of the office
* May include some evenings and weekends based on availability.


General Skills/Requirements

-Interest in performing arts and cultural traditions
-Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing and organizational skills
-Basic computer skills in Microsoft and internet applications
-Ability to multi-task and take initiative
