Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site, a unit of the National Park Service, offers a summer internship for 6-10 weeks between May and August. This internship provides students or recent graduates with practical work experience in education and interpretation during a busy national park summer season.
Education Interns work in a variety of capacities including assisting with teacher workshops, curriculum development, and administrative tasks. Education interns will regularly lead youth groups on a variety of curriculum based programs including house tours, barn tours, nature hikes and poetry writing activities. As an Education Intern you will assist the Park in preserving the legacy of Carl Sandburg while educating and inspiring the youth of our local community.
Must have a strong desire to work with youth in an experiential learning environment. Musically and theatrically inclined candidates a plus.
