DescriptionSeeking an intern for Real Kids Real Food (RKRF), a healthy living, inner-city after-school program, manifesting the mission of Optimum Health Solution (OHS), a non-profit 501c3 based out of Waltham. OHS’s mission is to eliminate obesity, chronic disease and malnutrition, especially in children through education and advocacy of healthy living. The RKRF program is based out of the Mystic Learning Center in Somerville, MA and focuses on educating children ages 5 to 12 on nutrition, gardening, and physical activity through a hands-on approach. The after-school program takes place at on Tuesday afternoons 3:15 - 5:15pm in Somerville, and preparation beforehand will be at the office in Waltham. This volunteer internship requires a 2 hours a week commitment.
This dynamic internship is an excellent opportunity for students from the Public Health, Elementary Education and Social Work fields to learn more about nonprofits and health education among at-risk populations, and work directly with children.
