DescriptionPosition Title: Education Intern
Reports to: Public Education Manager/Customer Service Manager
Location: ECHO at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain on Burlington’s waterfront
Description: ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center features 70 live species, more than 100 interactive experiences, changing and permanent exhibits, and seasonal events. Interns works among our team of educators to assist in the delivery and development of interactive, dynamic programs for family visitors. Interns will facilitate activities for diverse visitors on a daily basis and serve as an integral part of the programming team during school vacation weeks. The public program internship offers a challenging and rewarding experience for anyone considering a career in education.
ResponsibilitiesTime Commitment: Fall (September-December) & Spring (January-May) 20hrs a week. Ideal schedules would be Wed-Sat 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. or Sun-Wed 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. for approximately 15 weeks.
• Interact informally with visitors to facilitate engagement with exhibits
• Be comfortable with public speaking
• Conduct on-floor interactive experiences for visitors based on environmental and cultural objects
• Set up and clean up exhibits and activities throughout the day
• Be available through school vacation weeks for programming:
o Fall = November 23rd – December 1st & Dec. 21st – Dec. 31st
o Spring = February 22nd – March 4th & April 19th – 27th
