Great opportunity to intern at one of the most innovate private schools in NYC, located in the heart of downtown's historic financial district. This K-8 school offers a program unlike any other to gifted students with learning challenges. Intern under the supervision of Director of Admissions & Community Outreach; a licensed clinical social worker who has lectured at national conferences, published articles and founded a national advocacy organization in support of a unique population of gifted students. Tax free travel stipend provided.
Responsibilities include community outreach to increase database of independent mental health professionals, legal advocates and potential families. Assist with the planning and solicitation of special events including workshops and parent support groups. Assist in the maintenance and updating of applicant files. Will also have the opportunity to work with students in classroom setting to promote community building and social skills.
Candidates must be working toward a BSW or MSW, demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills (writing samples should be submitted with resume), as well as computer skills, and have experience working with children.
