Great opportunity to intern at one of the most innovate private schools in NYC, located in the heart of downtown's historic financial district. This K-12 school offers a program unlike any other to gifted students with learning challenges. Intern under the supervision of Director of Admissions & Community Outreach; a licensed clinical social worker who has lectured at national conferences, published articles and founded a national advocacy organization in support of a unique population of gifted students. Travel stipend provided.
Responsibilities include working with students, both 1:1 and in small groups in the classroom. In addition, intern will have the opportunity to work with director of admissions on community outreach initiatives including, independent mental health professionals and other service providers, legal advocates and potential families. Opportunity to be involved with the planning and solicitation of special events including workshops and parent support groups.
Candidates must be working toward an MSW, demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills (writing samples should be submitted with resume), as well as computer skills, and have experience working with children.
