DescriptionChildren Soaring 4 the Future was established in 2005. We are a community driven organization with a 501c3 status that seeks to promote community education, empowerment and advancement. We believe that any motivated individual in need should have the opportunity to succeed. Children Soaring 4 the Future provides After School Programs, events for back to school, senior citizens, save your home, youth and young teen programs, feed the communities, Christmas drives and many other community based events and activities. Our main goal and focus is to be a community assistance program. We also work with shelters and foster homes in our communities. Children Soaring 4 the Future is helping families in need to succeed.
We are looking for individuals to teach and tutor the after school program located at Steel City Academy located in Gary, IN.
The After School Program is Monday - Friday from 3pm to 8pm ( we ask that you select your schedule one week ahead of time to make sure we can provide coverage).
Children Soaring 4 the Future after school program meets multiple goals: keeping students safe; supporting learning and higher academic achievement; providing mentoring by caring adults; extending the school day with practice-oriented materials to reinforce concepts and skills taught earlier in the day; and providing social and intellectual enrichment, such as music, dance, artwork, field trips, and service learning opportunities to instill a broader set of values. The after school Program Increases Academic Effort and Decreases Likelihood of Skipping School, and offers the opportunity for kids to not only work on their homework but to get help if they need it.
ResponsibilitiesDeveloped and implemented lesson plans and daily activities focused on language arts; reading, grammar, spelling, math, science, history, and all area of academics.
Provided individual teaching to motivate and instill enthusiasm for learning; approx. 20-25 students
Assured that students completed homework correctly
Assist children in reading, writing, math, science, history, and all academic area
Maintained the standards and procedures set forth by Children Soaring 4 the Future
Planned field trips, activities and curriculum
Ensured the safety and well-being of the children
Organized art and craft activities
Communicated with parents when necessary
Contributed to the overall effectiveness of the after school program
