DescriptionFounded in 2015, Stop Sexual Assault in Schools is a 501 (c) (3) public charity devoted to educating students, families, and schools about sexual assault prevention and the right to an equal education free of sexual harassment/sexual assault.
The internship offers participants with diverse skills the opportunity to participate in the early stages of non-profit development. The organization’s leadership board is comprised of advocates, academics, legal and sexual assault experts, assault survivors and their families among others who understand the need to spearhead this movement. We offer internships in these areas:
Law: Research representative K-12 Title IX cases for presentation on our website, create letters to schools and posts.
Education: Create activities that schools, clubs, and organizations can use to increase awareness of sexual harassment as it impacts education, identify important source material concerning sexual assault/schools K-12, identify subject experts.
Sexual Assault Prevention/Response: Research/evaluate existing trainings on sexual harassment for schools, contact organizations
Media: research online media about sexual harassment/assault
Youth outreach: Design projects for K-12 youth on prevention and Title IX rights, work with youth organizations to determine needs and programs
Grant research: funding for our K-12 trainings and network with organizations
Non-Profit Development: Make recommendations for developing our organization
Marketing: Creating a marketing plan for our work
Accounting, Management, Finance, Business: Create appropriate plans and structures
Product Design and Development: Create and guide the development of products such as school planners, notebook inserts, T-shirts, bumper stickers, posters, phone accessories, literature, etc. that we will distribute through our organization
Journalism: Create media reports and press releases about our work, design projects for student journalism that will promote awareness of education equality, Title IX (all aspects), and the impact of sexual harassment upon youth/education equality.
Multi-media: Create short documentary interviews (any media) that will be posted on our website
Documentary filmmaking: Identify filmmakers and actors for the training
LGBTQ: Identify subject experts, advocates, and advisors for our work
ResponsibilitiesYou create a plan for the tasks we agree need to be accomplished. Working from your location, you check in with us every few days to update us about your progress. You keep a log of the work you have undertaken with the outcomes
