Description

Uplift Heights Preparatory is a college preparatory charter school serving the West Dallas neighborhood. Opened in 2010, the school now serves roughly 1,000 scholars in grades K-3 and 6-10 (expanding by one year until a full continuum). Uplift Heights seeks to be an exemplar for community and family involvement and works closely with The School Zone and the 26 non-profit agencies in the West Dallas community. Uplift Heights Preparatory seeks a Family and Community Involvement intern who is interested in our mission to ensure that 100% of our scholars go to college.

Responsibilities

Work closely with grade level and course teams to ensure exemplar parent partnership. Organize events, such as Report Card Pick Up, Literacy Night, Math Night, Parent University, 8th Grade Graduation, Meet the Teacher/Open House, and other events. Work with non-profit agencies to develop meaningful relationships with the school. Be a liaison between current mentors and non-profit programming. Support the completion of a parents asset and needs assessment and work to increase programming at the school. Contact: Cody Yocom, cyocom@uplifteducation.org

Requirements

The position would be ideal for a college student who was seeking future employment in the education or non-profit sectors. Experience with organizing events or community organization is a plus. Bilingual - Spanish speaking strongly preferred.
