Description

The Rock County Historical Society is a 3.5 acre history campus that features six historical buildings, including a pre-Civil War mansion, the Lincoln - Tallman House, an archive that features genealogical research materials, as well as a museum center that houses both temporary and permanent exhibits. Located in Janesville, Wisconsin, the RCHS is a vibrant, forward-thinking organization that serves the community of Rock County with engaging, innovative and interesting educational programs.

As an Intern Educator, you will have the chance to hone your teaching skills and gain in-depth experience in the
design and implementation of fun, innovative educational programs and experiences. Working closely with the Education Curator, along with other staff, the intern will be given the chance to take a lead on a project, make decisions, and see it come to life, all while gaining skills in their ideal field.

Responsibilities

Specifically, RCHS is looking for a candidate who can help with the following:
 Research and design new material for the RCHS Historic Walking Tours, utilizing a third-party application
 Identify and develop new material for Cache Quest: A geocaching adventure around Rock County
 Research and implement new Historic Gardening programs and initiatives
 Assist with exhibit design and implementation of interactive elements in our exhibits, programs, and the Lincoln - Tallman House
 Assist with Tallman Talk programming and aid with execution of program
 Lead tours of the Lincoln-Tallman House and assist with special events

Requirements

Well-qualified candidates will possess the following:
 Interest in creating accessible historical narratives
 Curiosity in history, culture, education, museums, science, or anthropology
 Creativity and imagination
 Strong organization skills
 App development, web design, social media marketing
 Willingness to work independently in a selfguided manner
 Adaptable to changes in workflow and variability of projects
 Customer service skills and public speaking experience
