DescriptionThe Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) is a national non-profit and non-partisan Hispanic educational organization whose mission is to develop the next generation of Latino Leaders. CHCI seeks to accomplish its mission by offering educational and leadership development programs, services, and activities that promote the growth of participants as effective professionals and strong leaders. Our programs are designed to increase the participation of young Hispanics in both public and private sectors. Our vision is an educated and civically active Latino community who participates at the local, state, and federal policy decision-making levels.
The Intern will support our Associate Manager for Scholarships performing a variety of duties including the oversight of the application and selection process and administrative functions. The office is metro accessible and located at 1128 16 Street, NW, Washington, DC. In addition to the responsibilities assigned to this position you will have the opportunity to participate in company events and programs afforded full time staff and program participants.
ResponsibilitiesReview and process applications from students seeking scholarships
Maintain spreadsheets and reports that reflect all scholarship related activities.
Monitor and validate qualifying information received from applicants.
Research for industry trends and best-practices
Opportunities for growth.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
RequirementsStrong communication and computer skills desired. Fluent in Spanish is a plus but not required.
Ability to work independently, multitask, and organized. Hours are flexible and can range from 16 to 30 weekly. We will accommodate your schedule as needed. This is an unpaid position.
