DescriptionThe City of Maryland Heights, Missouri was incorporated in May 1985. Located in northwest St. Louis County, the City has a population of 27,400, increasing during the day to over 100,000, as a result of its major concentration of businesses, offices, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
The City is a statutory city with a City Administrator form of government. There are six departments: Administration, Police, Public Works, Finance, Parks and Recreation, and Community Development. The City employs 200 full-time employees and has a budget of over $50 million.
ResponsibilitiesThis program is for a senior undergraduate or graduate student who is interested in a professional career in Civil Engineering. The Intern will work with the Public Works Department and will be exposed to the operations of all city departments. The internship function includes both engineering and construction management related activities. Tours of a variety of public works facilities and attendance at staff meetings and professional meetings will also be a part of the assignment.
