Local Roots is pioneering the next era of sustainable farming technologies. We convert refurbished shipping containers into state-of-the-art controlled-environment vertical farms! Our farms use 90% less water than conventional farms, require no pesticides or herbicides, and can offer the freshest and highest quality local produce anywhere in the world during all seasons. From food deserts in the United States, to cold-weather cities in the winter, to desert countries in the summer, Local Roots offers a sustainable and year-round healthy food option for communities around the world.

We are looking to add interns to our team as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a brand new industry (controlled environment agriculture) and potentially transition yourself into a full time paid role. We are seeking several interns to work in our engineering & marketing departments.


You’ll work on-site at our farm alongside our R&D team aiding in operations, data collection and analysis, system design, and plant science. We are pioneering work in machine learning, big data, and robotics!

You'll be responsible for branding an innovative new product line. We need help in PR campaign management, social media, business development, farmers markets, and more.

Our requirements vary widely, so we will work with you to craft your ideal internship.

- 2 days / 12 hours per week minimum time requirement
- Ability to complete a 4-6 month internship
- Must own your own car and be able to commute 20 minutes to Vernon, CA (~5 miles from campus)

- Previous lab research experience performing biological science experiments
- Plant science background
- Engineering background
- Marketing background
- Public Relations experience
