The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is seeking production interns for the concert portion of the 2017 Show. Come join us backstage in the AT&T Center to get hands-on experience as we bring 21 concerts to life over the course of 17 days.

*Deadline for Rodeo 2017 intern applications is Friday, October 28, 2016. Interviews may begin in September and must be completed by Friday, November 18, 2016. After these dates, part-time volunteer positions may still be available, but for-credit intern positions will be filled. *

Since SALE's inception in 1950, the Stock Show & Rodeo has grown to be one of the largest and most prestigious, single events in San Antonio with over one million visitors entering the grounds each year.

To date, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo educational commitment exceeds $160.1 million with $12.2 million committed in 2015 in the form of scholarships, grants, endowments, auctions, a calf scramble program and show premiums paid to youth.

The success of the event, positive impact on the community, world class rodeo action and entertainment and ability to provide financial support to Texas youth is the result of many hours of hard work by committed SALE volunteers.

SALE has a rich tradition and history of stewardship to the community, agriculture industry and youth of Texas. With a clear vision of the future, a successful past and continual dedication from over 6,000 volunteers, SALE will continue to provide wholesome family entertainment and be a pillar of strength and support to the youth of Texas.

Approximate shifts:
AM Shift: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM
PM Shift: 3:00 PM – 12:30 AM
Shift times are approximate and will be based on artist schedules. Start and end times may vary by a few hours.


By definition, a production intern/volunteer is a NON-FAN adult, working both unsupervised and in cooperation with others to assist in the overall production of the Rodeo Artist performance, including but not limited to areas of hospitality and transportation. Your role is to assist the S.A.L.E. production staff however necessary and be an additional contact for artist personnel as needed.

Will assist in overall event production by:
oCommunicating clearly and effectively with all team members: Production Manager, Production Assistant, Star Security, peers, catering staff, ticket staff, artist staff, etc.
oAssisting the team in all aspects of advance planning to create a smooth arrival the following day, regardless of your schedule
oKeeping well organized and visible schedule of runs and artist information, incorporating changes as they are made
oEnsuring production office needs are met by answering/returning production calls and working with Microsoft Office and Photoshop programs to prepare materials
oMaintaining a neat, organized production office and accurate inventory records
oAssisting with artist meet and greets

Will show hospitality to artist personnel by:
oGreeting personnel, making them feel at home
oEnsuring personnel needs are taken care of
oKeeping the catering and dressing rooms stocked with hospitality items, and coordinating needs with the caterer
oMaintaining organized dressing rooms and catering room, leaving the venue ready for the next artist regardless of your schedule
oSetting up dinner, golf, spa reservations, etc.

Will provide transportation to Artist personnel as a "Runner" by:
oTaking a S.A.L.E.-provided cell phone and vehicle, and running various errands – from load-in until after load out has ended. Will transport crew and bus drivers as well as run time-sensitive errands to places like Home Depot, Staples, HEB, etc.
oWill communicate with Mallory, Brittany and Star Security at all times
 Note when leaving for a run
 Call when returning from a run
 Call when priorities change during a run, i.e. errand added, ETA laterthan expected
oWill become familiar with location of local music stores, office supply stores, grocery stores, FedEx Kinkos, etc. as well has all hotels used by artists to ensure smooth runs
oWill be extremely punctual with all runs
oWill make daily runs to ticket office or other areas on S.A.L.E. grounds as needed by Mallory, Brittany or Star Security

Must abide by all S.A.L.E. rules, policies and procedures
Must portray friendly, professional and hospitable disposition towards all Artist and S.A.L.E. personnel at all times
Must demonstrate an interest in the entertainment field, exceptional social skills and business sense
Must be willing to assist with additional tasks directly or indirectly related to above described duties


•Ideal candidates are students actively pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. All majors are welcome to apply, however entertainment, business, hospitality, communication, and agriculture students are preferred.
•Extreme professionalism and people skills are a must
•Must possess an interest in entertainment, event planning and hospitality
•Must be 21 years of age by February 1, 2017, Must have valid driver’s license*, Must be very familiar with San Antonio (*major driving offenses may result in ineligibility)
•Must be very competent with Microsoft Office programs
•Must follow through with the committed number of hours and schedule if offered the opportunity to participate (minimum 10 shifts non-credit/approximately 17 shifts credit with an opportunity to receive additional hours in the office prior to the Show)
