This industrial hygiene (IH) intern will work with the Environmental Health Safety team in Boulder, Colorado, to maintain and develop employee health protection programs. The student will gain practical experience in the technical implementation and administration of IH programs in a development and manufacturing environment, including support of exposure assessment, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, hazard communication, laboratory chemical hygiene, and other programs. The student will use and develop skills in conducting baseline surveys of operations to prioritize and plan monitoring strategies of potential exposures, gather and interpret data from sampling, and apply knowledge of IH controls to alleviate hazards.
The position requires current enrollment in Master’s degree program course work in IH, Occupational Safety, or Public Health. A student who has completed two years of a B.S. degree in an IH or Occupational Safety may be considered. The student must be currently enrolled in a degree-seeking college or university program with at least one semester remaining following the internship. A 3.0 GPA is preferred. The position requires a self-motivated, individual with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Excellent oral and written communications skills are required.
This position is at the Lexmark facility located in Boulder, Colorado. This facility houses development engineering and manufacturing for supplies of Lexmark’s extensive line of laser printers.
