DescriptionLocated approximately 25 miles north of Atlanta and situated on 55 acres, Scottsdale Farms offers three internship opportunities each year, lasting approximately three months; spring, summer and fall.
All Interns will rotate through different departments within the Nursery; Trees and shrubs, annuals, perennials, our vegetable garden and our plant production facility. There will be a few quizzes along the way on plant ID and other horticultural topics.
In spring, interns will assist with plant production, including plugs and bare root roses, trees and shrubs. Planting and working in our one acre vegetable garden is also part of the rotation. Learning about plant care, maintenance, fertilizers and customer sales and service round out the spring experience.
In summer, plant care, maintenance, plant and vegetable production in our organic garden, fertilizing, pest control, pansy production, customer sales and service, round out the summer session.
In fall, pansy production continues. Planting and caring for our fall organic vegetable garden, pumpkin patch, plant care and maintenance, our famous Enchanted Christmas tree forest and customer sales and service round out the fall rotation.
RequirementsCandidates must be currently enrolled in a Horticulture Science program and be at least a Junior within their program of study.
Spring Internship starts mid-February and continues through mid-May
Summer Internship starts at the end of May and continues to the end of August
Fall Internship starts at the end of September and continues to mid-December
