DescriptionCitizens Campaign for the Environment is Connecticut's most effective grassroots environmental organization with over 80,000 members and more than 30 years of experience winning campaigns that have preserved and improved our air and water quality. Recent successes include the CT Sewage Right to Know Act in 2012 that creates a warning system for when sewage overflows into our communities and open waterways, the Protecting Connecticut School Ground Act that bans toxic pesticides on school playgrounds (K-8), and the defeat of Shell Oil's (world's 2nd largest oil company) proposal to build a natural gas facility in Long Island Sound. We are also the organization leading the charge against Hydrofracking (hydraulic-fracturing) for natural gas, a major threat to our state's drinking water.
ResponsibilitiesCommunity organizing is the backbone of CCE, and each year it allows us the opportunity to continue building the strength in numbers that has won so many of our campaigns. We are looking to add highly motivated individuals with good communication skills to our already effective and professional campaign staff.
Requirements-Strong communication skills
-A passion for environmental and/or social justice issues
