DescriptionEarth Day Austin, the largest sustainability event in Central Texas, is seeking 3 interns to help our events and organization grow. Earth Day is Austin’s best day of the year to reach all segments of the Austin population. Because of this, we occupy a unique place in the Austin community with partners and participants that include:
-Local political leadership such as the Mayor, City Council Members, County Commissioners and many more.
-Environmental organizations and advocacy groups.
-Green businesses representing a wide range of ideas, products and services.
-Top leaders and experts in all areas of sustainability, including renewable energy, green building, transportation, water, energy efficiency, organic foods, environmental policy and many other areas.
ResponsibilitiesInternships contribute to the team in several areas:
-Event planning, preparation, operations and logistics
-Creation of event marketing materials for web, social media and print
-Newsletter and email list development and administration
-Website and mobile app development
-Market research for growing event participation
-Other unique skills that you, as a team member, may offer (please be specific)
RequirementsQualifications for success include:
-Excellent communication skills, oral and written
-Well-developed organizing and time-management skills
-Passion for and understanding of important core environmental issues
-Proficiency using tools such as: social media, graphics tools, MS Office/PowerPoint, WordPress, MailChimp, Google -Docs and other software tools.
