Description

Supervisor: Natalie Wilson, Senior Manager of Events + Programs and Monique Stitts, Events + Programs
Coordinator

Purpose: To assist the above supervisors in developing the curricula for upcoming Woodland Discovery
Camp sessions (Fall, Spring and Summer), as well as year-round field trips

Hours and duration of internship: As assigned by University requirements; Minimum of 15 hours per week

Brief position summary: The Environmental Education Intern will assist in developing curricula using
Project WET, Project WILD, and Project Learning Tree teaching supplements as guides. In addition, the
intern will help enhance field trip curricula using Tennessee Common Core Standards.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
· Work alongside camp counselors and Interpretive Docent team to develop a working education
program
· Assist in implementing curricula for camp and field trips throughout internship
· Procure supplies and materials as needed to conduct lessons
· Create a fun and engaging environment for educational program participants
· Include Common Core Standards with each activity to prepare a well-rounded educational program
for each specific age group

Requirements

Requirements and Qualifications:
· Experience with Microsoft office (excel, word, etc.) and Google Docs
· Driver’s license + personal vehicle
· Current Education major (or related field)
· Strong people/conversational skills
· Intermediate to advanced planning skills
· Ability to create organized lesson plans that are easily transferrable
· Ability to design curricula for specific age groups
