HowGood is a company that rates the environmental and social factors associated with the production of food and other products. The company spent 5 years building the world’s largest research model and database on the sustainability of food production, evaluating factors such as sourcing standards (growing, procurement, labor, livestock and distribution), production standards (ingredients, workforce and processing) and organization standards (management, community, employment and environment).
Position Description: Sustainability Intern
WFUNA and HowGood seek an intern who will work off-site in New York City, with occasional meetings at the office of the WFUNA Secretariat in midtown Manhattan or HowGood in Brooklyn.
The intern will report directly to the Director of Sustainable Development of WFUNA, with oversight by the Vice President of Partnerships of HowGood. The position is part-time (10-15 hours per week) over a 3-month period. Applicants must have a valid visa to work in the United States.

♣ Analyze the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), targets and indicators.
♣ Analyze HowGood’s multi-factor research model.
♣ Identify areas of overlap between the SDG framework and HowGood’s research model, and prepare a report/presentation describing how the two align.
♣ Conduct desk research to identify donors and funding opportunities for raising awareness about the SDGs by promoting responsible consumerism.
♣ Support development of project proposals to respond to funding opportunities.
♣ Consult regularly with WFUNA’s Director of Sustainable Development and HowGood’s Vice President of Partnerships on progress and findings.
♣ Other duties as assigned.
♣ Master’s level student or recent graduate in environmental management, sustainable development, economics, public administration or related disciplines.
♣ Strong affinity for sustainability and environmental issues and/or development.
♣ Ability to self-start, prioritize, and work independently.
♣ Applicant must be disciplined about staying on task and conscientious about follow-through and timeliness.
♣ Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and technical skills.
♣ Highly organized and detail-oriented.
♣ Strongly motivated and intellectually curious.
♣ Fluency in English is required.
♣ Preference will be given to candidates who possess prior experience/knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals.
