Description

For more than 143 years, the American Correctional Association has championed the cause of corrections and correctional effectiveness. Founded in 1870 as the National Prison Association, ACA is the oldest association developed specifically for practitioners in the correctional profession.

The Conventions, Advertising and Corporate Relations (CACR) Department is seeking an intern. This department plans the two annual conferences that ACA holds in different cities around the country. Conference events include a huge exhibition hall, workshops, committee meetings, networking opportunities, a general session and various luncheons, dinners and receptions.

Interns for the Conventions and Corporate Relations Department will assist with conference and convention planning that includes preparing convention documents; developing marketing plans and projects for promoting the conferences; assisting with vendor research; compiling registrations and exhibitor materials for upcoming conferences; and assisting the Director with projects. This department is interested in hospitality management, tourism, graphic design, art, communication, marketing and business administration majors/minors.

An ideal candidate is outgoing, team-oriented, and has a strong attention to detail.

Although scheduling can be flexible, at least 15 hours per week is required. The internship is unpaid, and school credit may be provided.

ACA is located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, a short walk from the King Street metro stop.
