Emily Griffith Foundation has launched its new “special events program initiative.” The intern in this role will assist with creating a long-term special events plan for the organization and will be involved with event planning for all special events including the annual fundraiser (The Black Crown Culinary Experience planned for September 20, 2013), including sponsorship research, planning, volunteer outreach, logistics planning, site management, vendor coordination, event marketing, etc. The Emily Griffith Foundation was established in 1990 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. Our mission is to provide financial support to Emily Griffith Technical College in the areas of student scholarships, capital improvements, innovative projects, instructional equipment, endowment and other needs that cannot be funded by the School's regular financial sources.

Responsibilities

The intern in this role will assist with creating a long-term special events plan for the organization and will be involved with event planning for all special events including the annual fundraiser (The Black Crown Culinary Experience planned for September 20, 2013), including sponsorship research, planning, volunteer outreach, logistics planning, site management, vendor coordination, event marketing, etc.

Requirements

Requirements include excellent typing and computer skills, ability to work independently as well as the ability to ask for help when needed, proficiency in on-line communications and Excel, and some event planning related coursework. The ideal candidate will offer excellent written and oral communication skills. Previous event planning experience is a plus. The foundation is seeking at least 10 hours a week and a 3 month commitment; flexible schedule available.
