DescriptionDedicated to excellence in nursing education, the National League for Nursing is the preferred membership organization for nurse faculty and leaders in nursing education. NLN members include nurse educators, education agencies, health care agencies, and interested members of the public. The NLN offers faculty development programs, networking opportunities, testing and assessment, nursing research grants, and public policy initiatives to its 33,000 individual and 1,200 institutional members.
Reporting to the manager, professional development and working in collaboration with the event
coordinators, the events and programming intern is responsible for assisting with all aspects of NLN educational events and programs. The ideal candidate will have an interest in a career in the hospitality industry involving aspects of event planning, including: facilities, F&B, hotel, A/V, room logistics, speaker coordination, exhibits, and registration.
In collaboration with the manager for professional development and the event and programming coordinators:
? Create, maintain, and manage on-line registration system (Cvent).
? Track and manage group reservation room blocks and cut-off dates
? Work with speakers and communicate all program details and expectations.
? Distribute and process speaker agreements.
? Confirm audio visual needs and room set-up requirements.
? Assist with program logistics.
? Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Continuing Education Coordination
Assist in the coordination of all continuing education (CE/CEU) activities provided, sponsored, or approved by the National League for Nursing:
? Prepare post-event evaluations for both speakers and attendees.
? Communicate with CEU applicants as needed.
? Maintain standards and keep records in accordance with IACET standards including periodic audits of existing CE files from previous years.
? Maintain current records for all State Boards of Nursing regarding their acceptance of NLN CEUs for re-licensure of nurses in their jurisdiction.
In collaboration with the membership and business departments, fulfill the following responsibilities
for all off-site exhibits attended by the NLN:
? Help to maintain the annual exhibit schedule.
? Help to maintain inventory of promotional items and reorder as needed.
Web Site Maintenance
? Prepare material for posting on the NLN website.
? Monitor faculty development content on the website regularly for currency and functionality.
? Assist in the preparation and dissemination of the monthly Faculty Development Bulletin.
RequirementsThe qualified applicant will have a demonstrated interest in hospitality and event management. A high level of professionalism and exceptional customer service skills are critical to this role. Must be able to multitask, prioritize work, and manage competing assignments.
This position requires: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization, communicate in a professional manner, use professional software applications including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, etc., and demonstrate a willingness to learn in a new environment.
