The National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care, a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization in Washington, DC, is currently seeking creative and detail-oriented interns for Summer 2014. This is a great chance to gain real-world experience while supporting an important cause.

The Consumer Voice was founded by Elma L. Holder in 1975 to protect the rights, safety and dignity of America’s long-term care residents. We advocate for public policies that support quality care and life in all long-term care settings, including nursing homes, assisted living and at-home care. The Consumer Voice empowers and educates consumers and their families by providing them with the knowledge and tools needed to advocate for themselves and their loved ones. We also advocate for a strong direct-care workforce and promote best practices in delivering quality long-term care, supports and services. For more information, visit our website

The Consumer Voice is located off of K Street at 1001 Connecticut Avenue, NW – just a short walk from two metro stops, Dupont Circle, the National Mall and more!

Each semester the Consumer Voice hosts interns to work on a variety of projects including consumer advocacy, event planning, communications, web development, fundraising and public policy. This internship is an excellent opportunity to learn about long-term care advocacy and public policy while gaining experience at a national nonprofit.

We require a minimum time commitment of 15 hours per week (up to 35). This is an unpaid internship; however, we are happy to assist students to receive academic credit for their internship. Candidates must be detail oriented, have exceptional writing and editing skills, possess strong computer skills and have a willingness to work on a wide range of projects. The Consumer Voice provides interns with the opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative environment.
