DescriptionEaster Seals New Jersey is seeking an outgoing, organized Development (fundraising) Intern to assist the Development Department with fundraising efforts through research of prospective donors, mailings and solicitations, and event planning.
This is a part-time internship offered for a term of 3 to 5 months,designed to give the post holder a range of skills and experience.
The Development Intern will assist with fundraising efforts, specifically:
•Assist with the planning of upcoming Fundraising events, including, but not limited to, our October Gala and May Walk/Run.
•Generate gift acknowledgements.
•Help manage the fundraising database and other team records.
•Follow-up with donors via letter and phone.
•Provide general administrative support to the fundraising team.
•Researching prospective donors.
In addition to administrative duties, the Development Intern will assist with special events and provide support as needed throughout all phases of event planning and implementation.
•Support development of event logistics, including meeting with event committees, developing community resources, generating new ideas and attending event meetings.
•Perform data entry and run event management reports.
•Support auction items ideas, collection and tracking.
•Help with special event mailings, phone calls related to donations, and other tasks as determined necessary by special event staff.
•Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.
•Excellent interpersonal skills.
•Experience in fundraising or related field.
•Proven track record of being able to conduct effective research.
•Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Word, Excel programs preferred.
•Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage a varied workload.

Orientation or Training
2 months minimum
event planning/marketing experience preferred.
