Description

Purpose: The Salvation Army seeks a highly motivated, self-starting energetic student who is passionate about non-profit organization. Intern will directly support The Salvation Army staff and gain valuable skills while assisting with event planning, corporate research and communications/public relations for The Salvation Army in the Greater St. Louis market. This unpaid internship can provide school credit, portfolio building experience, a flexible schedule and valuable experience in the non-profit sector.

Duties:
Assist coordinating and implenting fund-raising events
Maintain large database through The Salvation Army reporting system and data entry
Research new donor opportunities with local corporations/businesses
Project development and management
Attend committee/board meetings and complete minutes
Secure in-kind donations
Help with event logistics - including attending events
Assemble press kits and mailings
Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Currently enrolled as an undergraduate (or recently graduated)
Candidate must exude professionalism
Education in business, marketing, public relations, communications or related field
Previous internship or work experience preferred
Excellent interpersonal communications skills
Excellent research skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in database management and design of spreadsheets (Microsoft Word & Excel required)
Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment
