DescriptionThe mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1.5 billion to diabetes research. JDRF, the leader in setting the agenda for diabetes research worldwide, is the largest charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research. For four decades, the Foundation has been renowned as a highly effective medical research organization with remarkable efficiency in directing donor dollars to our mission. Each year, JDRF's unwavering commitment to funding the best in diabetes research has earned it high marks from the scientific and business media, and from charity watchdogs.
ResponsibilitiesThe New York Chapter of the JDRF seeks an intern to assist with the planning and execution of the 2012 Walk to Cure Diabetes Program, and to assist with various projects concerning the annual gala, The Promise Ball. All events directly support the fundraising efforts of the Chapter.
The Special Events Intern will work closely with the Walk/Special Events Department to prepare for the upcoming events. Responsibilities will include maintaining databases, assisting with phone calls, creating documents, research, logistical planning, attending meetings, day to day administrative tasks, and various projects as needed. The intern will also be expected to learn about and maintain a working knowledge of JDRF and its mission to find a cure for diabetes and its complications.
RequirementsMust be a matriculating student; credit for internship preferred
