DescriptionWhat We do:
Kennedy Couture Linens & Kennedy Events LA has been in business for just under five years. We offer a full inventory of high-end linen and decor rentals (i.e., tablecloths, napkins, overlays, etc.) for weddings and special events. In addition, we offer a wedding planning division that offers month of planning services to assist brides and grooms with pulling together the final elements of their wedding.
Our Ideal Intern:
We are looking for a spring 2012 intern who has some knowledge or interest in the event industry; more specifically weddings however we also plan other events. Have you planned your own wedding, helped a friend plan a wedding, or just love weddings in general? You might be a fit for us.
We offer our interns a well rounded view of the industry, both the fun and not so fun aspects of events. You will get to help clients design tabletops for events, research wedding trends and do mockups in our showroom. You will also assist with setting up events, breaking down events and prepping items after events.
If you would like to become a wedding planner, work in the wedding industry and or own your own wedding business this is the internship for you. You will learn how to grow a business and manage it (marketing, sales, keeping up with the books etc.) You will have the opportunity to meet other wedding professionals and build long lasting relationships by attending networking events, attending lunch meetings, and doing site visits.
During your internship you will assist in the following areas. You will gain hands on working experience in a learning environment.
Research-Research wedding trends, creating wedding inspiration boards, read blogs etc.
Writing-Write blog, facebook and twitter posts. Post on other peoples blogs, participating on wedding message boards. Assist with writing copy for our two monthly newsletters, responding and drafting emails.
Sales & Outreach-Build relationships with other wedding professional and local venues. Assist with setting up appointments with venues to do site visits, go over our services, contact wedding planners to schedule appointments etc. Follow up and be persistent with connections made.
Quotes and Order Follow Up-Responding to quote requests sent in via e-mail, send out contracts, confirming final numbers etc.
Wedding Planning-Confirm appointments for clients, vendor confirmation, send out introduction e-mails to vendors, responding to brides e-mails and inquires etc.
Design Consultations-Meet one-on-one with brides and grooms in our showroom. Assist with table mockups, displays and offer design ideas.
Networking-Attend one networking event per month. Meet other industry professionals and learn more about the industry.
Trade Shows-Assist with one trade show during your internship. Assist with designing our booth, creating our marketing material then attend the show and meet potential clients.
Event Setup-Assit with transforming events.
RequirementsYou should be friendly, outgoing and a true people person as well as be willing to learn and be great at followup and research. Attention to detail and a desire to do whatever it takes is a MUST. You should be well spoken and have excellent writing ability.
Internet Research, Word, Excel, Knowledge of Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Wordpress) Excellent Writing Skills, Spelling and Grammar.
