DescriptionThe Event Management Intern is responsible for managing a March of Dimes fundraising event. This position offers the opportunity to develop skills in project management, event planning, fundraising, logistics planning, marketing and volunteer development. Obtain hands-on event planning experience, reporting to a Massachusetts Community Director or Division Director. Internships are unpaid - University/college credit is available. Internships are located at the Westborough, MA office, Manchester, NH office, and the Waterbury, VT office.
Plan and execute a fundraising event from start to finish. Brainstorm cost affective event logistics that will attract participants. Participate in weekly planning meetings to present project updates and make decisions. Put logistical plans into motion by contacting vendors and comparing bids. Assist with logistics day of the event and ensure successful execution.
Develop marketing strategy to promote event and gain participants. Execute marketing strategy through multiple communication channels including: Social Media, Online forums, Handing out Flyers / Tabling.
Learn the role of sponsorship in an event and how to obtain corporate sponsors. Reach out to local businesses regarding donations and sponsorship opportunities. Create and maintain working budget for event. Oversee fundraising of event and ensure event’s cost effectiveness.
Recruit event volunteers and assign to various volunteer positions. Maintain contact with volunteers throughout event planning process. Be prepared to provide volunteers with instructions day of event.
Real World Experience Including
Attending other chapter events such as Board Meetings, fundraisers, and kick-off events. Creating materials needed for various chapter events. Working on actual projects that affect the foundation and its fundraising efforts. Collaborating with fellow interns and March of Dimes staff to achieve best results for Chapter.
