DescriptionI'm the founder/chapter leader for a non-profit in DC that teaches women web development. We pride ourselves in providing women who are learning to code with a safe, non-judgemental , environment.
We have been operating for two years and have over 1700 members who are either looking to learn how to code or teach.
All of our classes are reasonably priced as we strive to remove any barriers to learning. Furthermore, we also offer needs based scholarships, which is where a substantial portion of our class proceeds go.
ResponsibilitiesThe event organizer is responsible for coordinating with our students, instructors and venue partners to ensure our workshops are a success.
Each coordinator is expected to be available 4-5 evening per month between the hours of 6-930p to hold classes. We do not offer any daytime classes, so almost all of your duties would fall within the evening.
It is extremely important that any organizers we hire are highly dependable. Our workshops would not be able to run without the help of our organizers to make them a success.
Requirements- Communication: Event organizers talk to clients, listening to their needs and presenting ideas and solutions to their requirements. They also work with employees, and many other parties at the same time. Customer service and interpersonal skills are required.
- Calm Under Pressure: Many things can go wrong during an event, and something eventually will. Event organizers need to remain calm during crisis and the high pressure of an event in progress.
- Computer Skills: Modern event organizers rely on computers to communicate, plan, budget and organize their events.
- Organization: Many things happen all at once at meetings. Event coordinators need to stay focused and organized so that the event goes off without a hitch.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Inevitably, something will go wrong at an event. Being able to quickly solve the issue is required.
