DescriptionCasa Libre/Freedom House is looking for several volunteers to help coordinate weekly/monthly outings for its residents. Casa Libre currently offers an emergency shelter program that centers on the social, educational, medical, and legal needs of typically unaccompanied Immigrant children under the age of 18 who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected. We are looking for individuals who will at the least help plan a series of events for the 2015 calendar year, but preferably also help lead these outings. Past events have been recreational (beach days, hikes, etc) and cultural (museum days, fairs, film festivals, etc), but other ideas could be implemented. Hours are flexible, but we would like for the volunteer to create a consistent schedule (i.e. once a week, bi monthly) for at least a two to three month period. Events would be held on weekends.
RequirementsPrevious experience in event planning, community outreach, or volunteering preferred.

Pass a background check and sign a confidentiality form
Great interpersonal skills and ability to be a positive role model for adolescents
Sensitivity in working with at-risk and homeless youth a plus
Sensitivity to immigration issues, poverty, and homelessness
SkillsRequired - Event Planning and Management, Planning & Organizing Skills, Bilingual-English/Spanish
Preferred - Community Outreach, Fundraising
