DescriptionThis is for an internship for 2017. Do you want to be part of a new and growing nation-wide health initiative? Develop innovative events that increase our brand awareness. Research and plan events and recognition opportunities that influence thousands of people. Skinny Gene Project is unlike your typical 501c (3) non-profit. We are the first in San Diego County to be awarded Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) FULL Recognition as a provider of the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP). We are partnered with the CDC to deliver the program and continually collaborate with other local and state organizations to increase our reach.

ResponsibilitiesDuties may include, but are not limited to:
-Researching event tasks, i.e. resources to aid the planning process
-Working alongside other staff members and interns, but also completing tasks and projects independently
-Communicating directly with contacts arrange proposals, etc. (under supervision)
-Following up with contacts as necessary
-Attending and assisting in the set-up, running, and break down of events
-Assist in developing and contributing to marketing activities
-Interact with internal departments to carry out client requirements such as scheduling advertising; monitoring account activities; and managing production activities
-Coordinate with news media as assigned, in development of appropriate news stories
-Maintain up-to-date customer and prospect records
RequirementsThe ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
-Undergraduate junior, senior, recent graduates, masters in Event Management or related field
-Minimum of 3 month & minimum 15 hours commitment with a possibility of extension.
-Academic credit for the internship is at the discretion of your college, or university.
-The internship can provide outstanding background for students from a number of different fields of study. Skinny Gene will consider applicants without a public health background and will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
-An experience or previous internship in the events or public relations industry is recommended
-Excellent communication skills and the ability to inform and entertain via written, oral and visual media.
-Extremely organized and strong attention to detail
-Strong initiative to understand target audience
-An innovative self-starter with problem solving skills, creativity, ambition, and a strong work ethic.
-Focused and can work independently
-Ability to multi-task
