Description

The National Comedy Center and Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum are currently looking for interns for its year-round program. This is a great opportunity to become involved with a non-profit organization with worldwide credibility, and also to gain real-life experiences and connections. This is an unpaid internship.

The National Comedy Center embodies Lucille Ball's vision for Jamestown, New York and will celebrate the past, present and future of comedy. The 501(c)(3) non-profit operates the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum, produces the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, and is developing the first national attraction dedicated to comedy.

Each intern will have unique responsibilities and tasks based on the department they are working in, but a majority of all internships will be focused on organizing and operating various aspects of the 2016 Lucille Ball Comedy Festival. This year’s festival will take place August 4-7 (comedians to be announced in coming months). The 2015 Lucille Ball Comedy Festival was headlined by Jerry Seinfeld, Nick Offerman, Regis Philbin, Melissa Rivers, Kelly Carlin and over 50 additional performers.

Past festivals have featured Jay Leno, Ray Romano, Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Engvall, Kathleen Madigan, Lewis Black, Billy Gardell, Joan Rivers, Paula Poundstone, Tammy Pescatelli, and many more.

Interns will also assist with day-to-day operations at the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum. The Lucy Desi Museum is open seven days a week, and features replica sets, Lucille Ball’s Emmy awards, props, costumes, and rare memorabilia from I Love Lucy. Tripling in size in 2006, the mission of the museum is to preserve the legacy of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz and enrich the world through the healing powers of laughter through its commitment to developing the comedic arts.
