DescriptionA creative, successful food tour company is in search of 5 talented interns to assist with several ongoing projects this Summer season. These are unpaid internships but you will receive training in various methods of historical research, marketing and development as well as course credit (where possible). The position will also expose you to some incredible food!
We're developing new tour routes, each of which requires historical research. You will be required to complete research assignments by using NYC's public library system, the city's Municipal Archive, the New York Historical Society, the Brooklyn Historical Society and several other resources. The information you collect will be used to create and enhance our tour program as well as supporting several book projects.
We are formulating a new marketing plan this season. We thrive on customer word-of-mouth but have plans to extend our reach through intelligent marketing channels. This includes, but is not limited to, social media and traditional print distribution.
Although this internship includes instruction, we do expect you to have a strong foundation in historical research, marketing and/or event management. Assignments will be given for remote completion, supplemented by weekly check-in meetings in Manhattan/Brooklyn so you should be capable of working independently. Total time commitment expected is approximately 10-15 hours per week. Successful interns will complete the program with a title and can potentially continue with paid positions.
