The intern will visit local schools to make high school counselors and students aware of the annual College Readiness Summit held at the Tinley Park Convention Center on July 30, 2016.
1. Call and schedule a time to meet with junior level counselors.
2. Schedule a time to do a cafeteria visit. Sit in the cafeteria and share information about the summit with students who may want to attend. Have students register to attend by filling out an information form during the cafeteria visit.
3. Ensure a poster is put up in each high school guidance office.
Counselors should be encouraged to identify students interested in one of the five career fields to attend the event: Engineering, Business, Computers, Medical and the Arts.
Counselors should be encouraged to identify students who are willing to be on the Ambassador team for Impact. The student ambassador will continue to make sure the word is spread through social media or various other high school level outlets.
Who can attend?
Any high school age student can attend this event. The target population is 2017 & 2018 graduates. Students who will be entering their senior or junior year in fall 2016. There is no fee. Students should register online. Parents are encouraged to attend.
A list of high school counselors along with their contact information and any pertinent notes from conversation with them should be submitted each Friday by 8pm. The list of students that signed up should also be submitted.
2-3 visits per week for 10 weeks. The intern should be able to visit 20-23 high schools.
