Position Summary: The Museum Programs Intern(s) will support staff in the production, coordination and implementation of Museum Programs events including (but not limited to,) the Philadelphia Science Festival, Science After Hours, School Workshops, Homeschool Workshops, School’s Out Camps, The Franklin Institute Speaker Series, and other special events.
Education Requirements: Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree or be enrolled in an accredited college or university degree-seeking program. Students majoring in the sciences, education, social work/community organizing, urban planning, hospitality management, or event planning preferred. All degree seeking candidates will be considered.
Special Skills Required: The successful candidate must be self-motivated, flexible, organized and willing to speak in front of groups of people and comfortable working with children. Familiarity with general science concepts a plus. Must be comfortable making cold calls to partnering organizations or returning general inquiries. Strong writing and communication skills required.
Schedule Requirements: A minimum of 15 hours a week is requested. Occasional weekend or evening work will be required. Spring interns must be willing to increase working hours during the Philadelphia Science Festival program week, April 21- April 29, 2017.
Other Requirements: This position involves direct contact with children. Interns must meet background clearance requirements before they can begin.
