Suggested Donation commitment is a minimum of 12 hours a week, Monday – Friday between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Volunteer is required to establish a regular schedule with the Engagement Coordinator. Time commitments may also include night and weekend participation.
ResponsibilitiesAs a statewide chamber of commerce, our volunteers have the ability to work in either the Richmond or Vienna office. The volunteer will be introduced to all areas of event planning but will primarily assist with assigned signature events hosted by the organization. The volunteer is responsible for establishing and meeting event logistics. Volunteers will maintain an electronic source documenting key actions and contacts related to the event for future use by the organization.
Potential volunteers should have solid skills in organization, detail and communication. An ideal candidate will have experience planning events, developing lasting business relationships and experience meeting deadlines. Volunteers may be responsible for the following:
• Effectively communicate, written and verbally, with members, staff and public.
• Competently utilize software to track logistics and engage volunteers.
• Professionally and personably handle phone calls to members, agencies and
individuals on behalf of organization.
• Maintain document integrity throughout the development process to finalization.
• May occasionally place phone calls to clients, agencies and institutions to research
information and events.
• Conscientiously submit progress reports and discuss them regularly with Engagement
• Provide receptionist duties as needed.
• Actively participate in weekly staff meetings that include providing input to
organizational operations and procedures.
Additional responsibilities will be based on the volunteer's skill and qualifications and assigned by the Engagement Coordinator.
RequirementsEducation: Individuals pursuing a degree in communications, hospitality, business or related. Language: English/Spanish preferred (bilingual; written/verbal)
Age Requirement: Must be 18+
