1. How did you get started in the industry? How can someone who is interested in your work get started?

Kasia Bosne, Creator of Boutique on 57

My fashion journey started with attending and graduating from Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in NYC majoring in Marketing and International Trade.

Then I continued my interest in fashion with experience at Giorgio Armani and Gianni Versace flagship stores in NYC where I developed long list of celebrity clients. I loved dressing women connecting inspiring and servicing them the best I could. After 10 years of experience with top designer fashion houses I decided to challenge myself and grow my career further. I have opened my own private showroom/boutique called Boutiqueon57 5 years ago where I collaborate with top designer’s women’s ready to wear, and accessories overstock.

Anyone can pursuit their dreams and passions. In an industry where everything changes every day its essential to create enthusiasm, and excitement. It comes from initiating an authentic dialogue that triggers an emotion because Fashion is not a monologue. These days we have amazing stylists, artists, fashion boutiques, muses who often make history. I think this is the best way to gain some experience and knowledge from them. Always surround yourself with people who are better and smarter then you. That’s what have always worked for me. My mantra to all new comers is: Believe in yourself, because if you don’t no one else will!

2. What’s the future of your industry or job?

Like I mentioned previously this industry is changing every day. That’s why its critical to be very creative, hard working, current and follow the market demands.

3. What do you look for when you hire an intern or entry-level candidate?

The most important thing I look for when I hire new interns is their professionalism, their passion and connection, willingness to be flexible. I love creativity, thinking out of the box, eagerness to learn, punctuality.

4. What is one thing an intern can do to make a favorable impression?

I respect professionalism: good manners, easy going personality, well (appropriate) dressed, well groomed, intelligence and using common sense.

5. Can you share a positive intern story and an intern horror story? No names needed…

So far I must say I had only incredible stories. The last few interns that worked at Boutique on 57 were fabulous. We worked as a great team and were learning from each other every day. They were extremely knowledgeable, professional and always happy. It was a pleasure to be surrounded by such positive young talents.

My horror stories were only when great interns were hired by someone else.
